I would like to know if everyone has a soul mate?
Yes,
I believe that everyone does have a soul mate. Actually, I think
that everyone has several soul mates. Soul mates are souls that
we recognize from past lifetimes. The person, however, might have
been a child, a spouse, or a sister in a past incarnation, but appears
as a brother or friend in this incarnation. When we recognize a
soul mate it can lead to a lot of confusion on the human ego level
because we experience a familiarity with someone we may have only
met a few moments before.
Our Souls exist outside of time and space and we recognize each
other from past lives as though no time has passed by at all, because
in that Soul realm no time has passed by.
Often we misinterpret the familiarity and the comfort level we feel
when meeting a soul mate of the opposite sex. We might think that
we need to become romantically involved with the person. In fact,
the person might have only shown up in our lives because they have
the ability to help us heal from a past wound or to help us move
into a new phase in our lives, or we might need to assist them.
Having said that, I think you are specifically asking if everyone
has one particular person that is Mr/Ms Right. I think you want
to know if everyone has someone that is the one and only love for
them in this lifetime.
The Kaballah (the ancient Jewish mystical teachings) suggests that
we have what is called a twin flame. The female part of a soul that
meets up with the male part of that soul to form a whole. This will
not necessarily happen within each lifetime.
Only when we open up to receive love in our lives will our soul
mates appear as teachers and helpers. We need to let go of our judgments
and expectations of what form these soul mates take and to take
the time to enjoy the gifts that our soul mates offer us, even if
the journey seems difficult at the time. In other words a soul mate
is not necessarily a knight in shining armor riding into our lives
to save us from loneliness. It is someone who is willing to work
with us on a very deep soul level to evolve and grow during this
incarnation. In whichever form our soul mates show up, we need to
recognize and appreciate their presence.

Why
do certain people seem to suffer more than others? My life has been
very hard and I wonder if I am just paying punishment from last
life?
The Hindu teaching
of reincarnation and karma (which was also part of the Judeo/Christian
teachings until removed in the Fourth Century) would suggest that
our actions in one lifetime directly affect our situation in a future
lifetime. The choices that we make today directly influence our
situation tomorrow.
There is also
the spiritual teaching that we create our reality in every moment.
Our choice to suffer, however, is not understandable to our human
ego self and we feel like we are victims of our circumstances. Living
from the Third Wave perspective, a time period we are collectively
entering at this time, we begin to see beyond the pain and suffering
and to see goodness and kindness unfold within each moment. We begin
so see GOD or Spirit or whatever you choose to call the Supreme
Creator as a magnificent, loving Force that does not want us to
suffer. It is time for us to all collectively shift our focus, as
we enter the Third Wave, so that we can begin to experience our
Light, our Love, and our Beauty. Collectively we have chosen to
suffer, to have wars, to perpetuate famine and poverty. As the Third
Wave dawns we can collectively choose to stop suffering, and to
stop being martyrs. We can choose to allow love and happiness into
our lives because that is the truth of who and what we really are.
It is a process that doesn't always seem attainable or easy, but
it really is as soon as we begin to identify with our higher Self
and not with our human self. Release the belief system you carry
around that tells you that your life is one of suffering and that
you are paying for past mistakes and shift into seeing and experiencing
a higher vision of who and what you truly are.

I've heard you speaking to people on the radio about their dreams
and I wish that I was able to dream -- do you have any suggestions
about how I can start dreaming?
You are already dreaming. You simply don't remember
your dreams. Everyone spends a portion of each night in the dream
state, but very often people forget their dreams as soon as they
wake up because they are rushing to get to work, to get their kids
on the bus, etc. I don't know what your morning routine is like,
but if you could set aside a few minutes each morning to write down
anything you remember from your dreams, you will start to remember
more and more of them. Even if you only remember one word, one color,
or one person, write it down. After a short time you will find more
details remain clear and soon you will remember all your dreams.
Some statistics suggest that you forget 50% of your dreams after
five minutes and 90% after ten minutes. If you really want to start
remembering it is important to keep a dream journal by your bed
and to write immediately after waking.
Another reason you may not remember is that you could be blocking
your memory. You may fear discovering the messages that your dream
holds for you. Try to let go of those fears because dreams can really
lead us to wonderful and helpful information about our lives. Once
you start, you will find how much fun dreams really are!!

I have three young children and I don't know what to do about providing
them with a religious upbringing. I was raised Catholic, but I don't
believe in the teachings. Although I have been taking them to church,
I am only doing it because I don't know what else to do. Do you
have any suggestions about how to raise children in a more spiritual,
open way? Do you think it is a mistake to teach them myself rather
than exposing them to a formal religious services and education?
You have
really touched on a big dilemma that parents are facing these days.
As we enter into this Third Wave time we find out that so-called
truths that we were taught as children no longer represent our truths.
We realize that religious organizations are often more concerned
about making money and having power and control than about God and
spirituality. The feeling of belonging to a community might be the
most difficult part of leaving your old religious institution, but
there are plenty of other options out there that may be more open,
accepting, and inclusive of other faiths and philosophies. You might
try out a few different places of worship to see if you feel comfortable.
It is all right to teach your children yourself. And, contrary to
popular teachings, you will not go to hell simply because you aren't
showing up at a particular building on a particular day. We must
each find our own truth at this time and stop blindly following
religious leaders. We need to learn to trust our own instincts and
intuitions more, and to stop feeling guilty if our intuition leads
us in a different direction. Sai Baba, an Indian Avatar who I write
about in The G-String Theory, teaches that "there are as
many paths to God as there are people on the planet." Go ahead and
teach your children yourself, or try different denominations, and
then be guided by what you know in your heart to be your truth.
Most importantly, teach your children that God is Love.

Do you think that what a tarot reader says will definitely come
true? - Jenny
Tarot cards are used by readers to look at a particular
situation of concern in someone's life to try to get some insight
into the past, present and future of that situation. Some people
attribute a literal meaning to the cards, and others look for clues
in the cards to offer a broader message for guidance.
Every reader has her own style of reading the cards. When I do readings
for people, I don't rely on the traditional meaning of the cards,
but I use them as a guide. I might use the cards to see past-life
connections between people, or to see how the person might be blocked
from experiencing happiness in life.
A tarot deck consists of 78 cards, of which 22 are called the Major
Arcana, and 56 are called the Minor Arcana. The word arcana means
"mystery" or "secret". The Major Arcana cards relate more to major
life issues. The Minor Arcana is divided into 4 suits called Cups,
Pentacles, Wands and Swords. Each of these suits is associated with
an astrological element: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air respectively.
These cards address more of the day to day issues. A tarot reading
will not always accurately reveal the future. I suggest that people
think carefully about the information that comes through during
readings. As with all life experiences, if the information feels
right to you, then it probably is relevant to you. Use the information
if it feels right to you, but don't make life decisions based on
a reading if the information doesn't resonate with you. We all have
free will and can make choices in our lives. It is as though we
are seeing a reflection of our circumstances within the pictures
of the cards, and this gives us deeper insights and understanding
about the issues in question. No reading, however, is cast in stone.

My seven year old son keeps having nightmares.
He wakes up at night and is too afraid to go back to sleep. Do you
have any idea what might be causing this or suggestions about what
I should do to help him? - Trisha
It would be helpful to know what your son's nightmares
are about. If the theme of the dreams is the same each time, it
could point to an area of his life which is troubling him. Clearly,
if a child keeps having scary dreams, he may be holding some fear
from his awake state that is revealed in a more symbolic way at
night. For this reason, nightmares are a great gift because they
show us where our fears lie. This information may be blocked from
our consciousness during the day, but at night it has a free arena
to be expressed.
It's safe to assume that, through his nightmares, your son is asking
for help in some area of his life. You might question him about
what's going on at school. Another child may be bullying him, or
he might be anxious about his schoolwork. He may even be picking
up on some uneasiness at home. These things can place a lot of pressure
on a child, and he might lack the verbal skills or emotional safety
to express it. It is important for you to encourage your son to
talk about his nightmares because on some level he will feel supported
by being able to describe them to you and have them heard. The good
news is that, once you understand the message a nightmare is trying
to reveal, the nightmare usually stops recurring.

I try to stay calm and relaxed when I'm at work, but the work and
the atmosphere is so stressful. I don't want to have all this stress
in my life, but I can't quit my job and I don't know what to do
about it. I feel stuck in a situation that I don't like. -Gregg
It isn't easy
to stay in a calm state when the energy around us is frenetic. Holding
a peaceful centre when the environment we're in is so chaotic requires
a lot of 'letting go'. At work you could try and keep to yourself
as much as possible and avoid getting sucked into the usual gossip
sessions that create unhappy work environments.
Set aside some time each day (or as often as possible) to exercise.
Exercise is a wonderful way to relieve stress. Whether you walk,
cycle, attend aerobics classes or go to yoga, keeping physically
fit is key in reducing stress.
Try to spend at least a few minutes outside every day. Even if you
use part of your lunch break to go for a short walk, it will clear
your mind and get you out of the unpleasant office energy. The recycled
air in office buildings, and the fluorescent lights are not conducive
to feeling good either. I also recommend that you start doing a
short meditation every day: it need only be five minutes to start.
You can lead up to twenty minutes or half an hour in time, but any
meditation is helpful and one of the best ways to reduce stress.
You say that you cannot quit your job, but understand that in this
New Wave of Being (a major concept I write about in The G-String
Theory), we have to make changes if the situation we are in is contrary
to our Soul's purpose. We can no longer remain victims to bad situations,
we each need to take control of our higher purpose and express it
in a supportive environment. When we do that the stress levels begin
to drop dramatically.
There
are so many studies which tell you to eat one thing and then the
next year they say that is bad for you. Magazines, radio and TV
bombard us with diets and studies. I don't know who to listen to
anymore. I am confused about what to eat, how often to exercises,
who to listen to. - Joyce
You only have
to listen to yourself. You can be guided by others, but ultimately
you need to only listen to what your gut, your intuition is telling
you. In this day and age we have given away our power to the so
called experts who aren't experts at all. If you keep listening
to the experts you will feel like you're going crazy and nothing
will make any sense.
I received a beautiful channeled message when I was writing The
G-String Theory. It was so powerful and so simple: it became the
last page of the book. It teaches us how to reclaim our own inner
truth and power. It teaches us not to chase after teachers and Gurus,
but to rather find our own individual truth.
If you quiet your mind, you will know instinctively which foods
are healthy for your body. Does eating sugar and processed food
make you feel strong and healthy? Does sitting in front of the TV
all day make you feel good? We know what makes us feel healthy regardless
of the experts' opinions and studies. If walking feels better to
you than jogging then walking is the correct exercise for you. If
walking one mile feels like enough every day then that is your level.
Don't be harsh on yourself when you are not doing what the experts
are telling you to do. Do only that which feels right to you.

I
heard you speaking on the radio last night about Scorpio and Taurus
being opposite astrological signs. I am a Scorpio and my boyfriend
is a Taurus, and the part of the explanation that I heard was so
accurate about our relationship. I think that I tuned in late, so
would you mind explaining those signs again? By the way, I love
your show and I absolutely loved reading The G-String Theory. It
has become my favorite book!! - Kathleen
Yes, astrologically speaking, Scorpio and Taurus
are called "polar opposites". Our relationships with our polar opposites
can be very tough, but they can also be good learning experiences.
Our polar opposites usually reflect our shadow selves, or the part
of ourselves we hate looking at. But, with the knowledge of the
astrological differences, we can learn much about ourselves and
our partners.
Scorpio is a water sign, and Scorpios (born between October 23 and
November 21) express themselves primarily by giving of themselves,
often in the form of spiritual teachings and healings. Scorpios
need to be helpful, sharing, and generous. Taurus is an earth sign
(April 20 to May 20). Taureans need possessions and earthly prosperity,
and tend to be more concerned with the material world.
If your relationship fits the pattern, you will tend to be giving,
and your boyfriend taking. Your focus might be more spiritual, whereas
his might be more earth-bound. Unless you are both mindful of these
differences, the astrological contrast could lead to an imbalance
in the relationship. This can be overcome with open communication
and a conscious effort to meet each other's needs while satisfying
your own. Finally. It's important to understand that your sun signs
are only one of many influences in your astrological compatibility.
For the purpose of relationships, it's also important to look at
the placement of Venus and the Moon in each of your charts. (Thank
you for your feedback on the book! I'm so pleased you read and enjoyed
it.)

I
woke up from a dream a few nights ago and I am still shaking from
it. I was driving down a dark road and there were no other people
around. Suddenly, my car stopped - it ran out of gas. I called the
police from my cell phone, but no one answered. I kept hitting redial,
and still no one answered. Finally, I got out of the car and started
walking. I woke up terrified. - Cindy
This dream actually
falls into the category of "common theme" dreams. Calling for help
or dialing 911 in a dream is very common and very symbolic. Although
this dream is short, it is filled with symbolism. I will just give
you a short overview of what jumps out because I could write a whole
chapter on this short dream!
Dreams often point to an area of your life which is confusing to
you. This dream suggests to me that you're going through a difficult,
lonely period in your life. You may be feeling burnt out and stuck
in a fearful place, isolated from friends and family. You are asking
for help but no one is responding. Perhaps you need to be more direct
in asking for help. You may also need to take better care of your
physical body, because the dream suggests that your energy is very
low.
I'm hearing from several of my clients who are having dreams of
a similar theme. This is a difficult period in history, and many
people are feeling particularly unsettled at this time as we shift
into the Third Wave. It's therefore very important to be around
people who are on a similar path to you, and who can be supportive
and understanding. We all need to take some quiet time, take stock
of our lives, and make the changes we've delayed making.

When I meditate I don't usually see many images and I don't usually
get visions the way other people do. A few time I have seen images
though and when I do, I feel like I am making it up. It feels like
it is my imagination. How can I tell the difference between my imagination
and "real visions"? - Ann
There is no
right way and wrong way to meditate. It's important not to judge
your experience as good or bad, real or imagined or to compare your
experience with anyone elses. The important part is that your intention
is to sit quietly and empty your mind of the usual chatter for a
period of time.
There are so many different types of meditation and different personalities
do better with different varieties. It is always easier to meditate
in a group setting because there is a collective energy that helps
everyone move to a higher realm. It's very common for people to
think that they are making up what they see when they first start
meditating. As times goes on you will probably see more, learn to
trust the images you do see, and learn to recognize that what you're
seeing is as real as anything else that enters your mind during
the day.
Dream images
and symbols are coming from the same place as meditation visions
and symbols. Remember that every man-made object that we see in
the world today began as an image in someone's imagination. Imaginations
are a wonderful resource, so use yours to the fullest.

I
read that you are describing your holistic expo as a "Third Wave
shopping experience". What does that mean? I understand the Third
Wave from reading your book, but I'm wondering how that relates
to the shopping experience because I would always think of shopping
as a First Wave experience. - Sara
You're right,
shopping does tend to be one of those First Wave experiences, mainly
because we have put hundreds of shops together in an artificially
lit, airless, over crowded building called a mall. The energy in
a mall is lifeless. Shopping has become, like so many other things
these days, a very impersonal experience.
This time of
year it is especially difficult to be in these malls, because a
certain level of panic and frenzy sets in around buying xmas gifts.
Our Holistic
Expo introduces a fun stress-free environment for shopping. In other
words, rather than tearing though a mall, people can come and get
a massage, listen to lovely live music, browse through different
handmade gifts, eat healthy food, and meet wonderful people. This
is the Third Wave experience we are referring to.
All the things
in life that we feel we have to do even though we don't enjoy doing
them, can be transformed into fun pleasurable experiences when we
live without attachment and live the Third Wave.

What
is the difference between a Soul reading and a Tarot or palm reading?
- Geoff
There are many
different ways of reading a person's energy. I do what I call a
"Soul Reading" which is a very wonderful transformational experience.
I am able to help people see the areas where they might be blocked
from being happy, fulfilled, peaceful, and living their passion
and purpose.
Very often we
repeat behavioral patterns from past lives, so I help people see
what their past-life connections are with their family and friends.
This information can be very healing and empowering because it helps
us stop making the same mistakes over and over again.
During a Soul
reading I can look at a person without seeing their ego self, rather
I see their Soul self or Higher self and I see what their true life
purpose is and why they aren't accomplishing that dharma .
Tarot readings
rely more on tarot cards, a deck of 78 picture cards. Palm readers
use the lines on a person's hand to give them clues about the clients'
present past and future. Numerology is another modality. It is looking
at the numbers in a birthday and the letters in a name to get esoteric
information about a client.
As you can
tell, there are many different modalities and different people use
different methods appropriate for their particular personality.
There is no right or wrong way to read energy, just make sure that
you feel comfortable and trusting of the person doing the reading.

I
heard you speaking on the radio last night about Sai Baba. Can you
tell me a little more about him please? - Tara
Sai Baba is
an Indian Avatar. I was talking about him last night because it
was his birthday on November 23rd - he's now 77 years old. An Avatar
is someone who has divine qualities, but is in human form. Examples
of past Avatars would be Jesus, Moses, Krishna, Buddah. These are
people who are very much more evolved and awake than the average
human. Sai Baba lives on his ashram in India and people can go and
visit him. There is no charge for visiting the ashram, and thousands
of people go there every day to be in his presence. I write about
Sai Baba in The G-String Theory. He first appeared to me in a dream
a couple of years ago, and then I found myself at his ashram in
India, by some very synchronistic experiences, last year. Avatars
are able to perform healings and manifestations, but most importantly
they share an incredible amount of love. That is what sets them
apart from other humans. When you are in the presence of an Avatar,
you can't find words to describe the calmness, the love, and the
peacefulness that fills your whole being.

I
am not able to enjoy the holidays because of the stress associated
with the shopping, cooking, cleaning etc. I feel stressed because
I can't afford to buy gifts every year. Any suggestions? - Sue Ellen
It is true that the Christmas holidays have lost their real meaning.
The holidays are now about sending hallmark cards, buying gifts,
and being perfect in every way. This is unfortunate because holidays
need to be a time of relaxation and joining with family and incorporating
God into our lives. Give up on the idea of being perfect because
that is merely self judgement - no one is perfect! You do not have
to "buy" into the present giving mania. You could make little gifts.
Depending on what you enjoy doing you could knit scarves, bake bread
or cookies, offer to baby-sit your friends kids. There are many
ways to show love which don't include money. Make cards instead
of buying them - it's always nicer to get a home-made gift or card.
Feel free to break away from the pressure and do things the way
they work for you, not the way you've been told they have to be.
Try meditating a little every day and keep out of the stores to
remain calm!

I
don't have any family in N.E. and I can't afford to go home over
Christmas/New Year. I'm writing in to tell other people in my situation

Thank you for sharing your experience. It always helps others to
hear that they are not alone. Loneliness is heightened when people
mistakenly think that everyone else in the entire world is with
their friends and family. It's amazing how many people are by themselves
over the holidays, but as I explain in The G-string Theory
when we connect with our Souls we never feel lonely again. Most
people describe their experience of the holidays as
"I got through them!" Most people are not experiencing the sugary,
perfect image of the holidays portrayed on TV. Again, thanks for
sharing your message.

My

This is a very

to what anyone else is saying. You obviously love your dog very
much and would never try to make him suffer unnecessarily. You can
try to think more about the transition of his physical body into
spirit so that it is less of a loss and more of a transition. Know,
too, that he will always be with you and around you. The most important
thing is to keep him comfortable and secure in your love. Perhaps
he will pass by himself, if not you can stay close with him and
feel when it is that he no longer wants to be carrying his body
around. Remember to recognize and thank him for all the beautiful
gifts he has brought you.

Please
help me understand this dream. It started with my seeing my loved
one running up a watery rocky cliff. I was trying to catch up to
her and warn her of the rocks beneath the water and tell her to
be more careful and all at once we were at the top she went to the
left and I could not see her...I looked up in front of me and there
was the most beautiful person. He wore a cloth around his waist
and had beautiful dark shiny hair parted in the middle. The color
of his skin was so beautiful. And then he looked into my eyes with
so much love and he raised his right hand palm up... to the sun
then lowered it to his heart ,never losing eye contact and filled
with so much love. Then I awoke. Please help me understand this
dream. Thank you - Donna
You have had
a very beautiful visitation in this dream. It feels as though your
spirit guide has visited you to bring you a connection with a higher
source. He is beautiful, vulnerable and loving but at the same time
wanting to give you strength and healing. This is a rare gift that
you can treasure. You can ask him to come back again, but I feel
that he is around you all the time anyway. The dream also shows
me that something very beautiful and healing emerged out of a dangerous
situation. It helps you see the gift that appeared in your life
out of what felt like a negative incident. Dreams are a wonderful
way to connect with angels and spirit guides and you were given
that opportunity.

What
does it mean from an astrologically that it is the Year of the Goat?
- Chris
The Year of the Goat, (also called
the Year of the Sheep) comes from Chinese astrology. The Chinese
New Year starts at the beginning of February so that's probably
why you've been hearing about it. It is said that the goat brings
harmony, tranquility, and creative expression. It is a good time
to dream and to express those dreams artistically. People born in
1943, '55, '67, '79, '91 and now '03 would have the goat or sheep
personality which is very creative and artistic but prone to nervousness
and anxiety. These people need to spend much time alone, but also
need to be shown love and affection by others. For everyone, this
is a good time to take good care of yourself, spend time with family
and close friends, try to relax more, and bring out your creative
side.

This
time of year I find myself getting depressed. It is dark and this
winter especially, so cold. I remember as a child that the temperatures
got this cold, but somehow it affects me worse now. Is there something
wrong with me that I get this way in winter? - Kristie
Winter is my
least favorite season as well. We do naturally feel more 'under
the weather' when it's dark and cold. When we are outdoors walking
around relaxed, there is more of a community feeling so you don't
feel as isolated. People tend to get impatient in any weather extremes,
but in the very cold there is no time to stand around chatting with
a neighbor or a stranger on the street. We go into survival mode
simply trying to stay warm. So try to use this time to be introspective.
Use it the way plants do - resting and regenerating before the spring.
Take more time to read, watch movies, meditate, go to workshops
or classes, visit art galleries and museums. Do all those things
that we don't want to do once the weather warms up and we can be
outdoors again. Make sure that you do get some exercise. Exercising
really makes us feel better physically and emotionally. Try and
find some classes or work out at home, but it is a sure way to get
your spirits up.
